Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below only shows time periods that are reserved not confirmed exams. Please confirm with your instructor whether or not the final exam for a course will be conducted during this time.
Before you register, make sure to go over the Goethe exam guidelines and the terms and conditions on each individual exam page. Be sure to register with the correct exam level.
Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Exam pages for each exam are available for additional guidelines, terms and conditions and exam content. If you require special accommodations due to chronic illness, visual or hearing impairment or other limitations Contact the exam provider and provide the information when you register.
Faculty can find their exam times by using the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. The Registrar's Office also has a list with exam times for the classes that must be tested under NYSED regulations. Final exams for classes in the evening are scheduled during the regular class times of the final examination weeks.

Registration
Students are advised to check the exam schedule online. It is important to keep in mind that the final schedule of exams may change at any time. Therefore, students should consult their instructors to confirm that they have the correct date and time for their test. Students should also print the official list to bring to their exam.
In addition to the exam schedule, students should familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines, terms and conditions. These are on the page for each exam. When they register, students agree that they have read and agree to these terms and conditions.

If a student is scheduled to take three exams scheduled for the same day, it is recommended to contact their instructor or department to arrange a make-up exam. Although it is possible to take three tests in a single day, it can result in high stress levels and can impact the quality of the exam. In addition, the professor might not be able to offer a makeup exam on another day.
Before taking the exam Students must prepare for the exam by reviewing their course material and practice their German skills. The test is a paper-based test which measures the ability to speak, read and write in German. The results of the examination are reported using a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the test receive the Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies the that they have achieved the level of A1 in their language. This level is the first stage of the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free. Students must bring a valid government-issued ID to the test. If they do not present an ID with a valid photo are disqualified from the examination.
Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to receive a Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you'll need to pay the examination fee. This is in addition to the cost of the course.
Practice assessments allow you to get an understanding of the style, wording, and difficulty of the questions on the test. They allow you to assess your knowledge level, find areas of knowledge that aren't covered and increase your chances of passing the test.
Please note that the exam fee is non-refundable. Exam results can only be accessed via email and not by phone.
